What Do the Metrics Mean?
- TTFB (Time to First Byte): How long it takes for the first byte of the response to reach the browser after the request is sent. High TTFB often points to server performance or backend issues.
- Total load time: Approximate time until all data for the page is downloaded from our server’s point of view.
- HTML size: Size of the raw HTML document.
- Estimated page weight: Combined weight of the HTML and a sampled subset of images, stylesheets and scripts.
- Requests analyzed: How many individual HTTP requests we measured for this test.
Why Use This Tool Together with Lighthouse?
Google’s Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights provide in-depth audits and lab-based metrics like LCP, CLS and FID. Our Page Speed Analyzer focuses on a lightweight, server-based snapshot you can run quickly and often. Using both together gives you a more complete picture of performance from different perspectives.
Improving Your Page Speed
- Enable HTTP caching and use a CDN to reduce TTFB for global users.
- Compress images with modern formats like WebP/AVIF and serve appropriately sized images.
- Minify and combine CSS and JavaScript files to reduce requests and file sizes.
- Defer or lazy-load non-critical scripts, such as analytics or chat widgets.
- Remove unused CSS and JavaScript, especially from heavy frameworks or theme bundles.
Use this free Page Speed Analyzer regularly as you iterate on your site, then validate your improvements with more detailed tools like Lighthouse and Search Console.
